=== Founding and early history ===
The intention of Vein was to create a fun community within [[Washington, D.C.]] for players to enjoy. It focused on crime due to the fact that there were many law enforcement agencies for players to join, but very few criminal organizations. DreadVsDread stated that it "felt like a good idea to balance it out". As the group progressed, it grew larger and so did its ambitions. Vein wanted to declare on all law enforcement because of the corruption within both municipal and federal law enforcement agencies. Vein also attempted to become the highest on the gang kills leaderboard, a goal it eventually, albeit briefly, accomplished.

Vein accomplished most of its goals, including topping the kills leaderboard and balancing out the large disparity in power between law enforcement organizations and criminal organizations, oftentimes surpassing law enforcement in terms of power.
