The Rockefeller affair (also known as the Rockefeller-Reaper affair or the Zulu Protocol) was a political scandal and planned coup d'état involving then-President LordDeathTheReaper and senior members of the United States Military. Led by then-Senator MasonRockefeller, who was appointed to the Senate by LordDeathTheReaper earlier that month, the men planned to overthrow the United States Congress to remove Constitutionalist members that they believed were obstructing President Reaper's agenda and conspiring with group-blacklisted individuals, specifically former-President BernardCaldwell and former-Speaker of the House RichoCulture.

The Rockefeller affair essentially put an end to the entirety of LordDeathTheReaper's administration and lead to the resignation of all men involved in the coup. The ordeal lead to the Republicans being politically ruined for months, losing control of the House of Representatives, Dralian returning to the presidency for an extremely short second term until his blacklist by United States Clan Management due to his account being used by former-President BernardCaldwell, and was in part responsible for Ralphiuss's rise to the presidency in the March 2021 election.

Background

Prior to the attempted coup, the Constitutionalist part, which had control of the Senate, had refused to pass any of President Reaper's nominations to any positions which required Senate confirmation to hold. This restricted the President from being able to remove political appointees within the military and civil service, out of fear of either not being able to confirm a successor or having to appoint a Constitutionalist. In addition, President Reaper was unable to get his policies passed through Congress due to the block in the Senate, as well as being strong-armed into approving treaties and he did not support, such as pulling out of Eastie's United Nations in favor of Sparky's United Nations.

Commandant of the Coast Guard, General Daviddevvil2, telling then-Congresswoman Teasoups that he had the Marine Corps vote against the Constitutionalists.

On January 27, 2021, President Reaper assembled a group of senior political and military advisors, consisting of Secretary of Defense NathanielVFulton, Senator MasonRockefeller, General of the Marine Corps SalvadorBrauAsencio, the Commandant of the Marine Corps General Daviddevvil2, the Chief of Naval Operations Admiral GraysonVaiken, the Commandant of the Coast Guard Fleet Admiral TacticalRock101, former Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff PatriotActual, and political ally Ryrocks7.

The group discussed a multitude of topics, including having the United States Military secede from the United States and becoming its own entity, in the same fashion Gmf34's United States Military did eight years prior, or simply forming a new United States all together. However, the most notable topic discussed was having the United States Military deploy to Washington, D.C. to declare martial law and a provisional military government, suspending the United States Congress. General Daviddevvil2, the Commandant of the Marine Corps at the time, had been recruiting marines from outside the United States in order to create a force entirely loyal to the Marine Corps alone, not the United States. Senator Rockefeller, General Daviddevvil2, and PatriotActual drafted plans to begin training the Marine Corps in the test version of Washington, D.C., to prepare for a possible extended deployment so they could operate without support. President Reaper also replaced Vice Chief of Staff of the Army Xmxath with General of the Marine Corps SalvadorBrauAsencio to begin building loyalty to the organizers within the United States Army.

Leak to the public

On January 29, 2021, TacticalRock101 leaked the coup to the public by uploading a video of the chat utilized by the organizers of the coup to plan, including a letter written by Senator Rockefeller that would initiate the military occupation of Washington, D.C., as well as President Reaper stating he would "hold USM by the throat development wise". The video, as well as leaked screenshots from the United States Military Discord and a video taken by then-Congresswoman Teasoups also showed the President announcing anti-Constitutionalist statements in the Discord and ordering the senior leaders of the Military to have their branches vote for Republican candidates, specifically CountryDefender.

Aftermath

After the video of the chat were released to the public, President LordDeathTheReaper faced immediate and bipartisan condemnation and pressure to resign. Congressman KaceyMontagu drafted articles of impeachment against President Reaper, supported by both Constitutionalist and Republican members of Congress. President Pro Tempore of the Senate, Guggen_Pierre, called the act treason, stating that President Reaper and Senator Rockefeller should be charged for their conspiracy.

On January 29, 2021, at 7:12 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, President Reaper resigned the presidency, stating that the content was misunderstood but nonetheless inappropriate. Following this, MasonRockefeller resigned from the Senate, Secretary of Defense NathanielVFulton issued his resignation and General Daviddevvil2 resigned his commission from the military. Dralian was sworn in as the 36th President of the United States by Chief Justice KOTWarrior on the same day. His first order was to remove Admiral GraysonVaiken.

Many of the organizers of the attempted coup fled to LordDeathTheReaper's Alaska group, in an attempt to reform and reactivate it, although the plan ultimately fell through, and all members besides Ryrocks7 eventually returned to the United States. On March 23, 2021, President Ralphiuss issued a full and unconditional pardon to LordDeathTheReaper, clearing him of any charges he could have faced from the scandal.

The idea of the United States Military separating from the United States government continued to live on, until it was realized on September 22, 2021, when, under the leadership of Aerium, the United States seceded from the United States until it was brought back under the control of the government two months later, on November 11, 2021 by President TacticalRock101.
