Winning Campaign

The Summer 2024 United States presidential election is an upcoming presidential election in NUSA, set to be held from July 13, 2024 to July 16, 2024. Voters will elect a President of the United States and Vice President of the United States for a term of four years. The incumbent president, GeorgeGodsent, a member of the Plutocratic Party, is running for re-election to a second, consecutive term. His opponent, teasoups, a member of the Pioneer Party, is running for her first term as President. In the run-up to the election, President GeorgeGodsent was found liable for instances in which he allegedly hired hitmen to execute political rivals.

The winner of this election is scheduled to be inaugurated on July 28, 2024. Leading campaign issues include corruption, military activity, and agency reform.

Early in the election, former U.S. Representative AdremiCross, notable figure AugmentedReaper and former President Akacoolguy96GPT announced independent campaigns against GeorgeGodsent and teasoups. By July 5, all third party opponents suspended their campaigns and merged with the teasoups campaign in what has been named a "coalition to put NUSA on the right path."

Background

Resignations during George's first term

The teasoups campaign points out along the campaign trail that George has had an unprecedented amount of his own staff resign during his term, the "most for any President."[1] . The campaign makes these statements with a motto of "Why would you vote for a President that nobody wants to work for?"

Alleged politically-motivated terminations from both civil and non-civil positions by George

The campaign has accused George of dismissing Cabinet members who have opposing political views compared to his, using evidence of George promising to fire a staff member after they posted propaganda against his campaign[2][3]. George has additionally received an official warning from the Federal Election Commission after evidence was leaked of him firing non-civil office employees who supported rivaling political candidates[4].

Widespread claims that the GeorgeGodsent campaign is using alternative accounts for political power

There have been widespread claims that the GeorgeGodsent campaign uses alternative accounts for political power and for extra votes in elections made by opposing campaigns and supporters[5]. The teasoups campaign posts screenshots of George and Vice President Saviorjoshh admitting to alternative account usage, but these screenshots have yet to be approved by the FEC before any warning or disqualification can occur[6][7]. These accusations come after the accounts Comoros and IcyQueenbee were revealed to have been alts, both of which held political office before their exposure and had been George loyalists. RMP31, an account that had won a seat in the DCCC in May, faced many alternative account accusations that have yet to be proven.

GeorgeGodsent hiring hitmen to kill opposing supporters

The teasoups campaign has publicly accused GeorgeGodsent's campaign of having his supporters and hiring hitmen to kill those who advocate against George at D.C.[8] On July 1, 2024, a case had been filed against George questioning if he is liable for hiring individuals to murder teasoups supporters. On July 9, 2024, Judge BrendaPopplewell issued a default judgment that found the campaign liable for these actions, and had been restrained from many official actions such as "weaponizing the Federal Government in order to violate plaintiffs rights" and "hiring external individuals to bring about the murders of plaintiffs", among many other restraints[9].

Declaration of war on Ridgeway

Ridgeway, a breakaway state formerly apart of NUSA, declared war on NUSA on July 11, 2024. President GeorgeGodsent subsequently moved through with a bipartisan joint convention of Congress to declare war on Ridgeway as a result. He additionally deployed martial law in D.C. during Ridgeway's invasion on July 11.

Campaign issues

Corruption

In a poll hosted by UnitedGPT, voters of the poll overwhelmingly chose "corruption" as the issue that impacts the election the most, with 56.8% of the poll's votes. Corruption claims come around following a series of unprecedented resignations and dismissals during the incumbent President's term. Many of GeorgeGodsent's former Cabinet members made claims against George that he is "verbally abusive" behind closed doors and "expects you to do his exact bidding." Former cabinet officials publicly accused George of dismissing members of his Cabinet who supported the opposing campaign in the upcoming election, or anyone who "goes against his every word."

Military activity

Many former and active military officials and members have criticized George's handling of the United States military's activity. He was accused of "killing the military" early in his term after dismissing the entirety of USM's leadership and replacing them with loyalists and some who have been criticized as unqualified. Voters found military activity a concern in the upcoming election as well, due to George pulling NUSA out of the United Nations causing little military activity to be possible.

Agency reform

In the poll, voters also found agency reform to be important in the upcoming election.

Diplomatic ties with the State of Ridgeway

On July 11, 2024, the State of Ridgeway invaded Washington, D.C., which prompted Congress to convene and declare war. It is expected that diplomacy with Ridgeway will become a mainstream campaign issue come election night.

Post-debate polls

These polls come after the first Presidential debate, which had occurred after all third party campaigns were suspended and merged.

Debate GeorgeGodsent teasoups

The teasoups campaign denounces the results of the first debate poll as "fraudulent", as only 80 civilians were present at the debate and 247 votes in the poll had gone to George's representative.

Debates

The first presidential debate was held on June 29, 2024, 1 week after the first debate had originally been planned but was postponed due to George's refusal to speak for himself and the FEC denying a representative. Judge and news channel operator Jonofdoom hosted the actual debate on his news channel, FTN News, and allowed George to send a representative, which was Silent_NightSky.
