This Wikipedia was created by me (Cherry) and TacticalOwen, with invaluable contributions from many community members. We launched this project with a mission to document and preserve the history of nUSA, rooted in our belief that knowledge should be accessible to everyone. We wanted to help new members navigate and understand the rich heritage of nUSA, providing them with an asset that reflects our shared experiences and legacy.
Originally, this started as a small side project within NARA, back when pauljkl led the group. However, it quickly evolved into its own standalone project, complete with a dedicated team of passionate individuals who invested countless hours to make it a comprehensive and reliable resource. Over time, this Wikipedia became much more than just a collection of pages; it grew into a historical archive, a learning tool, and a place for community pride. From user profiles and family histories to elections and notable events, we aimed to capture all the defining aspects of nUSA’s journey, helping everyone to see how each person and event contributed to the broader story.
Together, our team has done an incredible job building and maintaining this project, striving to make it an accurate and inclusive space for all members of the nUSA community. However, due to declining usage, we’ve come to the difficult decision to close the site. I reached out to UKR to discuss the possibility of transferring the files to the development team, hoping this work might continue in some form, but there was no response. Therefore, the site will officially close in about a month.
It’s hard to say goodbye to something that has meant so much to so many people. This website became a notable part of the nUSA community, bringing together over 200 registered users who created more than 220 unique pages. These pages covered everything from individual user histories and election records to nUSA families, national events, and memorable moments that helped shape our virtual nation. Over time, it’s been deeply rewarding to see this project grow and serve as a resource, touching the lives of so many who wanted to learn about nUSA’s history or relive shared memories.
As we prepare to shut down, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to every person who contributed to this community project. Without your dedication, this archive wouldn’t have reached the level it has today. You’ve helped create something meaningful and lasting, and I hope that the legacy of this effort lives on. My sincere wish is that nUSA, perhaps under an official capacity, will someday create a similar resource that is as good and that will stand the test of time. This project has been an incredible journey, and I’m honored to have shared it with all of you.
Thank you all for being a part of this project. It’s been a privilege to work with you.
Cheers to every one of you and to the enduring spirit of nUSA.
Signed,
National Wiki Team
